Maha Viharavanshika Sri Lanka Amarapura Maha Nikaya gathered for the 2026 Upasampada Rajya Mahotsava today (09) afternoon at Kalutara Bodhiya. I consider it a privilege to be able to hold the Upasampada Vinayakarma Mahotsava of Sri Lanka Amarapura Maha Nikaya after nine years, this time under the auspices of the Supreme Mahanayake of Sri Lanka Amarapura Maha Nikaya, as per the advice of His Highness Mahanayaka Karagoda Uyangoda Maitrimurthy. The dedicated mission of virtuous, virtuous and wise Sanghas for the creation of a moral country is extremely important for the current era. Wishing that this year's Upasampada Vinayakarma Mahotsava of the Amarapura Maha Nikaya of Sri Lanka will help to produce such an ideal generation of monks, I offer my respect and praise to the Great Sangha of the sect, including the Most Reverend Supreme Mahanayake, who provide guidance for this noble Vinayakarma, and to all the contributors. Today (09) I attended the upasambatha royal event for the year 2026 of Maha Vikarawangsika Sri Lanka Amarapura Maha Nikaya held at Kalutara Vihara. Sri Lanka Amarapura Maha Nikaya's Upasambatha event, after nine years this time Mahanayaka Thera of Sri Lanka Amarapura Maha Nikaya Ven. I consider it a privilege to be able to perform under the auspices of Karakoda Uyankoda Maitrimurthy Maha Nayaka Thera, with royal patronage. The dedicated service of moral, virtuous and wise Maha Sanghas is very essential in the present age to build a morally cultured nation. I pray that the Upasambatha event of the Sri Lankan Amarapura Maha Nikaya will lead to the creation of such an exemplary lineage of Theras, and I express my respect and appreciation to the Maha Sangha of the Nikaya, including the Mahanayaka Thera, who are providing guidance for this noble event, and to all the members of the Executive Council. Joined the 2026 State Upasampadā Ordination Ceremony of the Mahāvihāra Tradition of the Sri Lanka Amarapura Maha Nikaya, held this afternoon (09) in front of the Kalutara Bodhi. It is a privilege that, after a lapse of nine years, the Upasampadā Vinaya Ordination Ceremony of the Sri Lanka Amarapura Maha Nikaya is being held this year under State patronage, in accordance with the guidance of the Most Venerable Supreme Mahanayaka of the Sri Lanka Amarapura Maha Nikaya, Most Venerable Karagoda Uyangoda Maithreemurthi Mahanayaka Thera. The dedicated service rendered by virtuous, disciplined and learned members of the Maha Sangha is of immense importance in the present era in building a morally upright nation. It is my sincere hope that this year's Upasampadā Vinaya Ordination Ceremony of the Sri Lanka Amarapura Maha Nikaya will contribute to nurturing such an exemplary generation of Buddhist monks. I extend my respect and appreciation to the Most Venerable Supreme Mahanayaka Thera, who has provided guidance for this sacred Vinaya ceremony, to the Maha Sangha of the Nikaya, and to all members of the Dayaka Sabha for their invaluable contribution.
