Leaders of Uzbekistan and Belarus reaffirm their commitment to developing multifaceted cooperationThe President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the President of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, held talks with the participation of members of the official delegations.

The President of Uzbekistan emphasized that, over recent years, the diverse relations between Uzbekistan and Belarus have achieved a significantly higher level.

It was highlighted that, during the preparations for this visit, various events such as meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission and the Business Council, political consultations, gatherings of expert and analytical groups, the Days of Culture of Uzbekistan, and other events were successfully conducted.

The consistent increase in mutual trade has been recognized positively. Over the last five years, it has nearly tripled, reaching almost $1 billion by the end of last year. Since the beginning of this year, its volume has expanded by an additional 30 percent. Currently, 360 joint ventures are functioning successfully.

The leaders approved the Action Plan from the previous day, outlining targeted measures to boost trade to $2 billion. It also details new cooperation projects across sectors such as agriculture, mechanical engineering, pharmaceuticals, and electrical, lighting, and furniture industries.

Interest was shown in sharing experiences related to the peaceful uses of nuclear energy and developing the necessary infrastructure.

Particular attention was given to the productive outcomes of the third Forum of Regions of Uzbekistan and Belarus, held the previous day in Minsk, which led to the signing of a substantial portfolio of trade contracts and investment agreements.

The parties reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing mutual support within international organizations, including the United Nations, the CIS, the SCO, and the Non-Aligned Movement.

It was emphasized that maintaining active cultural and humanitarian exchanges remains important.

The President of Uzbekistan expressed gratitude to Alexander Lukashenko for the initiative to establish an Alley of Uzbek-Belarusian Friendship in Minsk.

An agreement was reached to organize joint tourism, medical, and educational forums by the end of this year.

During the meeting, the co-chairs of the joint Intergovernmental Commission presented reports with specific proposals related to the agenda of the talks.

In conclusion, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited his Belarusian counterpart, Alexander Lukashenko, to pay an official visit to Uzbekistan.
