Energy Ministry, World Vision discuss Syria’s water sector recovery

Damascus, July 9 (SANA)Syria’sMinistry of Energyand the humanitarian organization World Vision discussed priorities for rebuilding the country’s water and sanitation sector during talks in Damascus on Thursday, focusing on infrastructure rehabilitation, renewable energy and long-term institutional development.

According to the ministry, Deputy Minister of Energy for Water and Electricity AffairsOsama Abu Zeidmet with a World Vision delegation led by Country Programs Director Lauren Marriott to review the sector’s needs and identify areas for future cooperation.

Abu Zeid said the ministry’s recovery strategy focuses on rehabilitating damaged water and wastewater infrastructure, improving operational efficiency through renewableenergyand modern monitoring systems, expanding digital management of water resources, and strengthening institutional capacity through training and technical cooperation.

The ministry said both sides emphasized the importance of continued coordination to support projects that improve water and sanitation services and strengthen the capacity of public institutions to manage the sector effectively.

World Vision is an international humanitarian and development organization working in the fields of education, health,waterand food security.

Earlier this week, Abu Zeid also met with a delegation from Oxfam to discuss cooperation on rehabilitating drinking water facilities and repairing water transmission networks in areas damaged during the war.
