Kuwait condemns Iranian attacks, reaffirms commitment to protecting sovereignty
Kuwait City, July 9 (SANA)Kuwait on Thursday condemned continuedIranian attackson its territory, saying the latest missile and drone attacks represented a serious escalation and a violation of its sovereignty.
In a statement,Kuwait’s Foreign Ministrysaid the attacks posed a direct threat to the country’s security and stability, endangered citizens and residents, and violated international law, the U.N. Charter and U.N. Security Council Resolution 2817.
The ministry said the escalation risked increasing regional tensions, undermining diplomatic efforts and threatening regional peace and security.
It reaffirmed that Kuwait’s security and sovereignty are “a red line” and said the country reserves the right to take all necessary measures to protect its territory in accordance with international law and the U.N. Charter.
Earlier on Thursday, Kuwait’s Ministry of Defense said the country’s air defense systems intercepted hostile missiles and drones after they entered Kuwaiti airspace.
