Jordan intercepts Iranian missiles as Egypt, Mauritania condemn attacks
Capitals, July 9 (SANA)Jordan said on Thursday its air defense systems intercepted Iranian missiles that entered the kingdom’s airspace, while Egypt and Mauritania condemned Iranian attacks targeting Kuwait and Bahrain and expressed solidarity with the two Gulf states.
Jordanian government spokesperson Mohammad al-Momani said in a post on X that the missiles violated Jordanian airspace before being intercepted.
He said theJordanian Armed Forcesremain fully prepared to respond to any threat and are committed to safeguarding the kingdom’s security and protecting its citizens.
Meanwhile, Egypt’s Foreign Ministry condemned renewedIranian attackson Kuwait and Bahrain, calling them a dangerous escalation and an unacceptable violation of the two countries’ sovereignty that could undermine Gulf security and regional stability.
The ministry reaffirmed Egypt’s support for measures taken by Kuwait and Bahrain to safeguard their security and sovereignty, stressing that the security of the Gulf states is an integral part of Arab national security.
Mauritania also condemned the attacks, expressing solidarity with Kuwait and Bahrain and calling for restraint, dialogue and diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions and preserve regional peace and stability.
Earlier on Thursday, Kuwait’s Ministry of Defense said its air defense systems had intercepted hostile missiles and drones that entered the country’s airspace, while Bahrain’s Defense Force said it had intercepted and destroyed Iranian missiles and drones targeting the kingdomF.J./ABD
