Neither team was able to find the breakthrough in regulation or extra time, forcing theRound of 16 matchto penalties, where Switzerland converted four of its spot kicks to secure the final berth in the last eight.

Switzerland will face defending champions Argentina in the quarterfinals after the South Americans defeated Egypt 3-2 in their Round of 16 clash.
