In 2026, Uzbekistan, China, and São Tomé and Príncipe were recognized for making significant progress on the sixth indicator of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. In Uzbekistan, water stress declined from 169 percent in 2017 to 122 percent in 2022.

A report was presented on institutional and legal reforms in the water sector, the provision of clean drinking water to the population, the introduction of water-saving technologies, the digitalization of water management, and the development of Uzbekistan’s regional water diplomacy.
