Seven killed, 61 injured in road accidents and fires across Syria

Damascus, July 8 (SANA)Seven people were killed and 61 others injured in separate road accidents and fire-related incidents acrossSyriaover the past 24 hours, according to Syrian health authorities and theSyrian Civil Defense.

Four people were killed and 31 others injured early Wednesday when a bus carrying Muslim pilgrims returning from Lebanon overturned on the Damascus-Daraahighway near the town of Khirbet Ghazaleh in southern Syria.

Daraa National Hospital Director Dr. Nizar Rashdan told SANA that all casualties were taken to the hospital, where emergency teams were mobilized to provide treatment. Two critically injured patients were later transferred to a hospital in Damascus for specialized care, while the remaining injured continue to receive medical treatment.

Emergency responders also secured the crash site, evacuated the victims and worked to reopen the international highway linking Damascus with theJordanian border.

Separately, the Syrian Civil Defense said in daily report that its teams responded to 16traffic accidentsand 123 fires nationwide during the same period. The incidents left three people dead and 30 others injured, including 28 in traffic accidents and two in fire-related incidents.

The Civil Defense urged motorists to observe traffic safety regulations and called on the public to avoid activities that could ignite wildfires, particularly in agricultural and forested areas.
