Yemen condemns Damascus terrorist bombings as UN Syria Inquiry voices concern
Capitals, July 8 (SANA)Yemen’s Foreign Ministryon Tuesday condemned thetwin terrorist bombingsthat struck Damascus earlier in the day, reaffirming its support for Syria’s security and stability, as theUnited Nations Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Syriaexpressed concern over the attack and solidarity with its victims.
According to the Yemeni News Agency (SABA), the ministry said in a statement that Yemen maintains its firm rejection of all terrorist acts aimed at undermining security and stability, and reaffirmed its solidarity with the Syrian Arab Republic.
Thebombings occurred Tuesday morning near the Ministry of Tourismin central Damascus, killing one person and injuring 31 others, including four police officers, according to Interior Ministry.
Separately, the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Syrian Arab Republic said it stood in solidarity with those affected by the attack.
In a statement posted on the social media platform X, the commission expressed deep concern over the targeting of densely populated areas in Syria.
“During the commission’s most recent visit, Syrians expressed their aspiration to turn the page on violence and confront impunity. TheUnited NationsCommission of Inquiry stands with them,” the statement said.
The Damascus bombings have prompted broad international condemnation, with several countries and international organizations denouncing the attack and expressing support for Syria’s efforts to safeguard security and protect civilians.
