Türkiye condemns Damascus explosions, says terrorism threatens region’s future
Ankara, July 7 (SANA)Türkiye condemned on Tuesday the twin explosions that occurred inDamascus, stressing that terrorism threatens not only Syria but the future of the entire region, according to Anadolu Agency.
Presidential Communications Director Burhanettin Duran said in a post on the Turkish social media platform NSosyal that “all terrorist acts targeting Syria’s security, safety and stability pose a threat not only to Syria but to the shared future of the region.”
“There can be no legitimacy for violence or terrorism in Syria,” Duran said, stressing thatTürkiye, under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, will continue to support efforts to entrench lasting security and stability in Syria and stand by the Syrian people.
Two explosions occurred near the Ministry of Tourism in Damascus on Tuesday morning, killing one person and injuring 31 others, including four police officers. The blasts caused material damage to nearby buildings and vehicles. An investigation has been launched to identify and pursue those responsible.
The condemnations follow similar statements from the GCC, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon and Palestine, as well as from the Muslim World League and the Arab Parliament.
