Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi received today, Tuesday, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, who arrived in Najaf at the head of an official delegation to attend the funeral of the Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Supreme Religious Authority, Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Hosseini Khamenei. Prime Minister Al-Zaidi renewed his condolences to the Iranian people and government on the martyrdom of Grand Ayatollah Khamenei, affirming the depth of bilateral relations between the two countries and Iraq’s commitment to strengthening them across various fields. He also highlighted the sensitivity of the coming phase and the need for prudence and careful engagement at the regional and international levels in order to consolidate stability and bring conflicts to an end. For his part, President Pezeshkian expressed his country’s appreciation for the honorable stance of the Iraqi government and people, commending the extensive efforts and facilities provided for the funeral ceremonies.
