Minister O’ Donovan reflects on a successful period for the Irish Film Industry as the Galway Film Fleadh gets underway

Patrick O’Donovan TD, Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport welcomed the opening of the 38th Galway Film Fleadh which runs from today, 7th July until Sunday 12th July. This is an important annual event for everyone within the Irish film industry and is a time for reflection, celebration and will provide opportunities for future creative projects.

Speaking today Minister O’ Donovan said:

“The Government has continued to invest in the film industry through Screen Ireland and the Section 481 Film Tax Relief Scheme. I would like to acknowledge everyone who works so hard to deliver year after year in the Irish film industry.”

“The Galway Film Fleadh is a great celebration of that hard work with many movies getting their Irish Premiéres over the coming days. Funding and support from the Arts, Council, Screen Ireland, Coimisiún na Meán and Culture Ireland for the Galway Film Fleadh will help deliver an exciting 6-day event. Congratulations to all the team at the Galway Film Fleadh and I’d encourage anyone visiting Galway to go along and experience some of the amazing films and documentaries which being shown this week.”
