Arab countries condemn twin explosions in Damascus
Capitals, July 7 (SANA)Arab countries have strongly condemned the twin explosions that occurred near the Ministry of Tourism in Damascus, expressing their full solidarity with Syria and rejecting all attempts to destabilize the country.
Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi condemned the explosions and reaffirmed the council’s firm rejection of all forms of terrorism, stressing the need for regional and international efforts to eliminate terrorism and dry up its sources, theGCCsaid in a statement on its website.
AlBudaiwi expressed the GCC’s solidarity with the Syrian Arab Republic in all measures it takes to protect its security and stability, wishing the wounded a speedy recovery and that Syria and its people remain safe.
Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the “cowardly terrorist attack” on Damascus, which resulted in injuries to security personnel and civilians during an attempt to dismantle two explosive devices planted by a terrorist cell, according to a statement carried by SPA.
The Kingdom reaffirmed its “categorical rejection of all terrorist and extremist acts that attempt to destabilize the security and stability of the Syrian Arab Republic and its brotherly people,” expressing its sincere condolences to the families of the injured and to the Syrian government and people.
Qatar’s Foreign Ministry, in a post on X, reiterated Qatar’s “steadfast position rejecting violence and terrorism regardless of motives and reasons,” affirming “full solidarity and standing with Syria and full support for all measures it takes to preserve security and stability.” Qatar expressed wishes for the wounded to recover quickly.
Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry reaffirmed its country’s firm rejection of all forms of violence and terrorism, expressing its support for Syria in all measures it takes to protect its security and stability, according to a statement.
Oman’s Foreign Ministry, in a statement on X, expressed its solidarity with Syria in facing anything that affects its security and stability, reaffirming its steadfast position rejecting violence and terrorism in all its forms.
Palestinian presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh, quoted by Wafa, affirmed that Palestine, leadership and people, stands with Syria against anything that targets its security, stability and territorial integrity, and rejects all forms of terrorism and violence targeting innocent civilians everywhere.
He expressed condolences to the victims’ families and the Syrian people, wishing the wounded a speedy recovery.
Two explosions took place near the Ministry of Tourism in Damascus on Tuesday morning, killing one person and injuring 31 others, including four police officers. Security forces were in the process of dismantling two explosive devices planted by a terrorist cell when they detonated. The blasts caused material damage to nearby buildings and vehicles. An investigation has been launched to identify and pursue those responsible.
