Consulta Nacional presenta a líderes de opinión la visión transformadora de la reforma educativa

SantoDomingo.-The Executive Commission for Educational Transformation held a meeting with opinion leaders, as part of the process of the National Consultation for the Future of Dominican Education, an initiative aimed at collecting contributions from various sectors to build a proposal for the transformation of the educational system with a long-term vision.

The space for dialogue is part of the work promoted by the commission created by Decree 309-26 and seeks to generate consensus around a reform that articulates the different levels and modalities of the educational system, strengthens the quality of learning and responds to the social, technological and economic challenges of the country.

During the meeting, the main objectives of the consultation were presented to the communicators, including defining the elements of a future-oriented education, analyzing institutional alternatives to strengthen the coordination of the Dominican educational system, promoting a curricular and organizational reform, as well as preparing a proposal for educational legislation aligned with the needs of national development.

The Minister of Education, Luis Miguel De Camps, highlighted that educational transformation must start from a reflection on the country that aspires to build the Dominican Republic in the coming decades and maintained that the purpose of the reform transcends institutional reorganization to focus on expanding development opportunities for people through higher quality, relevant and articulated education.

De Campsa pointed out that the system that will be built is focused on strengthening learning so that students learn more and better, as well as so that they develop the knowledge, skills and abilities that they will need to develop in the future.

“We need to materialize this educational transformation so that what is generated in people, in addition to the human, is also their production capacity, and that they have the strength and tranquility that they are leading a productive life in the right direction,” said De Camps.

The head of the governing body of the pre-university system recalled that last weekend the territorial consultations carried out in different parts of the country concluded, through which more than 6,000 participants were able to express their opinions and suggestions for improvement for Dominican education.

While the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Mescyt), Rafael Santos Badía, valued the importance of strengthening the coordination between pre-university education, higher education, scientific research and innovation as pillars of national development.

The meeting brought together media representatives, analysts, academics and opinion formers, who exchanged ideas and formulated recommendations on the main challenges of the Dominican educational system and the opportunities for its transformation.

The National Consultation for the Future of Dominican Education will continue to be developed through spaces for dialogue with actors from the educational, productive, social and academic sectors, with the purpose of constructing a reform proposal based on evidence, participation and consensus, which contributes to consolidating a more articulated, relevant and inclusive educational system for the next generations.
