Taoiseach to address European Parliament in Strasbourg

Taoiseach Micheál Martin will today, Tuesday 7 July, address the Plenary meeting of the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
In his address he will present Ireland's priorities for its Presidency of the Council , which began on 1 July. Political group leaders and MEPs will have the opportunity to respond.
While in Strasbourg the Taoiseach will meet with the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, and they will host a joint press conference.
The Taoiseach will also meet with Irish MEPs and Irish officials working in the European Parliament.
“I am delighted to be back in Strasbourg - in the heart of Europe - addressing this Parliament, which gives democratic voice to 450 million people.
“I look forward to presenting the Irish EU Presidency priorities which will focus on enhancing the competitiveness of our economy, safeguarding the values of our Union at home and abroad, and providing for the security of our citizens.
“It is essential that we work closely with our European partners and make our Presidency a truly collaborative effort between Member States, the European Parliament, and the European Commission.”
