Mr. Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran TD, Minister of State with responsibility for the Office of Public Works (OPW) today, 6th July 2026, announced the official transfer of lands at Glasson Garda Station to Westmeath County Council to facilitate the provision of a new public car park and bus stop for the village of Glasson.
Speaking at the handover today, the Minister said,“I’m pleased to be here in Glasson today, to hand over this land adjacent to the Garda Station for community use. Cllr Liam McDaniel, Mayor of the Municipal District of Athlone-Moate, said:“I warmly welcome the transfer of these lands at Glasson Garda Station to Westmeath County Council. This is a very positive development for Glasson and the wider community. The new public car park will improve safety, accessibility and connectivity within the village.
