Syrian Investment Authority, German delegation discuss economic partnership

Damascus, July 6 (SANA)Syrian Investment AuthorityChairmanTalal al-Hilalimet a German investment delegation on Monday to discuss investment opportunities and prospects for economic partnership inSyria.

The delegation, led by Michael Suess, representative of the German Near and Middle East Association (NUMOV), included representatives of several German companies. The visit was organized by the association in cooperation with theSyrian-German Business Counciland attended by a representative of the Europe Department.

Al-Hilali reaffirmed Syria’s openness to investors seeking to contribute to the country’s development and reconstruction, saying the authority is committed to transparency and providing investors with accurate and reliable information about the investment environment to support informed investment decisions and long-term partnerships.

The two sides reviewed investment opportunities in several priority strategic sectors and discussed prospects for joint investment, as well as ongoing reforms aimed at improving Syria’s investment climate and competitiveness.

Al-Hilali highlighted recent indicators of economic recovery, including projects to rehabilitate and modernize Damascus International Airport and Aleppo International Airport, continued improvements in the electricity sector, and the return of airlines to the Syrian market following the entry of Flynas. He added that several strategic projects are expected to be launched in the near future.

He also said Zain, one of the region’s largest telecommunications companies, is set to enter the Syrian market as a new telecom operator, describing the move as a sign of growing investor confidence and the return of major investment to the country.

Al-Hilali said investment opportunities span a broad range of economic and service sectors, particularly healthcare and education, which require significant investment at the current stage. He added that demand in the Syrian market offers investors the potential for some of the fastest investment returns in the region.
