Paris, July 6 (SANA)French PresidentEmmanuel Macronon Monday reiterated his country’s support for the Syrian people and a unified sovereign Syria.In a post on X, President Macron said upon arriving in Damascus, “I have come to confirm France’s commitment to supporting the Syrian people, ensuring a sovereign Syria that is united in its pluralism and at peace with its neighbors.”The French president stated that France is initiating a new phase in the Syrian–French relation.“Let us open a new chapter of stability and peace together,” he said.Macron and an accompanying delegation arrived in Damascus on an official visit to Syria.Minister of Foreign Affairs and ExpatriatesAsaad Hassan al-Shaibanireceived President Macron and his delegation upon their arrival at Damascus International Airport.The visit marks the first by a French president to Syria since 2008 and reflects the transition of Syrian-French relations into a new phase based on mutual respect and an equal partnership.
