The Central Bank of Uzbekistan improved its ranking, climbing 10 places from 174th to 164th.
The Family and Gender Research Institute has been tracking this indicator since 2014. It evaluates gender equality in central and commercial banks, as well as pension funds. Additionally, the composition of financial institutions’ management bodies is assessed.
As of 2026, the official website of the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan provides information on the activities of the Chairman, First Deputy Chairman, and Deputy Chairmen. It also indicates that women serve as directors general responsible for financial inclusion, project management, processes, and data.
This can be seen as a key factor behind Uzbekistan’s significant improvement in the Gender Equality Index in 2026. The increasing number of women in strategic and managerial roles shows the steady growth of women’s influence and authority within the country’s financial sector.
