La Albirroja ended its World Cup participation in the round of 16, after a match played with dedication and determination that was defined by the minimum difference against France.
President Peña greeted each of the players, the coaching staff and the authorities of the Paraguayan Football Association (APF), conveying to them the recognition of the Government and the citizens.
«Thank you, thank you, thank you. Thank you for moving us, for exciting us. Eternally grateful to all of you," said the President.
He also dedicated special recognition to technical director Gustavo Alfaro, highlighting the leadership with which he led this sporting process and the bond he managed to build with the country.
"There is no place in the world that loves Gustavo Alfaro more than the Republic of Paraguay," he stated, amidst a standing ovation from those present.
The president also thanked the president of the APF, Robert Harrison, the coaching staff and all those who were part of this process, highlighting that the National Team once again transmitted a message that transcends sport.
«They have given us wonderful days, they encouraged us to dream big. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making us feel so proud," he said.
When speaking, Gustavo Alfaro thanked the support received since his arrival in Paraguay and assured that the achievement achieved was the result of a collective effort between players, leaders and the entire country.
The coach maintained that qualification for the World Cup was possible thanks to the commitment of the team and the permanent support of the Paraguayan fans, who accompanied the team throughout the entire process.
«These guys relit a flame that historically Paraguay always had. Defend that flame, because when this country unites behind a goal it shows that there are no impossible things," he stated.
Entire families, children, young people and adults accompanied a reception full of emotion for a team that left everything on the field and that once again put the country among the protagonists of world football after 16 years.
Beyond the sporting result, the team recovered the competitive spirit of the Albirroja and reaffirmed that, when a country believes, supports and works together, it is capable of dreaming big again.

Al tomar la palabra,Gustavo Alfaroagradeció el respaldo recibido desde su llegada al Paraguay y aseguró que el logro alcanzado fue el resultado de un esfuerzo colectivo entre jugadores, dirigentes y todo el país. El entrenador sostuvo que la clasificación al Mundial fue posible gracias al compromiso del plantel y al apoyo permanente de la afición paraguaya, que acompañó al equipo durante todo el proceso. «Estos muchachos volvieron a encender una llama que históricamente Paraguay siempre tuvo. Defiendan esa llama, porque cuando este país se une detrás de un objetivo demuestra que no existen imposibles», afirmó.
