El Gabinete de Mujeres, Adolescentes y Niñas presenta nuevas acciones para fortalecer las Casas de Acogida
Santo Domingo.-The Cabinet of Women, Adolescents and Girls presented new actions to strengthen Shelter Homes, as part of the State's comprehensive response to gender violence, during a meeting in which progress was made known aimed at expanding the protection of the users' jobs during their stay in these centers, the continuity of the schooling of their sons and daughters, health care and the expansion of psychological and legal support programs. and economic autonomy.
During the session it was reported that these measures are part of the process of improvement and consolidation of the Shelters, in coordination with the ministries of Education and Labor, the National Health Service (SNS) and other institutions. In addition, the articulation of strategic alliances was highlighted to expand the coverage of services, in order to guarantee greater protection, well-being and recovery opportunities for women and their dependents.
Meanwhile, Minister Gloria Reyes highlighted that the Vice President of the Republic, Raquel Peña, promotes a space for high-level political articulation to support the Cabinet's initiatives, strengthen inter-institutional coordination and facilitate the execution of the actions contemplated in the National Strategic Plan for a Life Free of Violence.
Likewise, Reyes received an update on the progress of the incorporation of Life Points in the facilities of the Ministry of Women and other initiatives aimed at expanding the coverage of prevention, guidance and protection services for women in situations of violence.
In legislative matters, the Ministry of Women presented the progress of the Legal and Regulatory Framework Table, which is working on updating the Comprehensive Law to Prevent, Address, Punish and Eradicate Violence against Women, known as the Mirabal Law, with the aim of harmonizing it with the recent reforms of the Penal Code and strengthening protection measures for victims.
At the meeting, the progress of the National Care System Law project was also shared, an initiative that seeks to recognize care as a right, promote co-responsibility between the State, families and society, and generate new employment opportunities in the care economy.
Likewise, the actions to strengthen the monitoring system of the National Strategic Plan for a Life Free of Violence were announced, a tool that will allow measuring compliance with goals, establishing indicators, identifying those responsible, allocating resources and periodically evaluating the impact of the interventions.
As part of the agreements reached, the Minister of Women, Gloria Reyes, and the executive director of Dominican Women in Development (MUDE), Rosa Rita Álvarez, formalized the transfer of the digital platform and the products developed within the framework of the project “New Narratives for the Prevention of Gender-Based Violence”, an initiative that will strengthen desensitization, prevention and education actions aimed at citizens.
During the signing of the agreement, the executive director of Dominican Women in Development (MUDE), Rosa Rita Álvarez, highlighted the importance of the transfer of the digital platform to the Ministry of Women, stating that "today we are pleased to formalize this delivery. It will be a free access virtual space that brings together studies, guides, methodologies, pedagogical tools and communication products developed during the project. We are convinced that when efforts are united and successful initiatives are incorporated into public policies, their impact will be multiplies and its sustainability is consolidated,” he stated.
In addition to the digital platform, the agreement includes the communication campaign, educational materials, publications, digital content, studies, databases and other resources generated by the project.
Another of the topics addressed was the National Free Woman Program, a proposal presented by the Ombudsman to promote the economic autonomy of women survivors of violence through training programs, job placement and alliances with the private sector, an initiative that will be developed jointly with various State institutions.
The Cabinet for Women, Adolescents and Girls is made up of various State institutions, headed by the Ministry of Women, which presides and coordinates it, along with the ministries of the Presidency; Interior and Police; Defense; Public Health and Social Assistance; Education; Higher Education, Science and Technology; Job; Economy, Planning and Development, and Youth, as well as a representative of the Judicial Branch appointed by the Council of the Judicial Branch, the Attorney General's Office, the National Health Service (SNS), the National Council for Children and Adolescence (Conani), the National Police, the National Statistics Office and the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD).
Likewise, the Research Center for Women's Action (Cipaf), the Dominican Association for Family Welfare (Profamilia) and the Women's Support Center (NAM – Santiago) participate, representing civil society as women's associations or organizations with a recognized track record in addressing violence against women.

De igual manera, Reyes recibió la actualización de los avances de la incorporación de losPuntos Vidaen las instalaciones delMinisterio de la Mujery otras iniciativas dirigidas a ampliar la cobertura de los servicios deprevención, orientación y protecciónpara mujeres en situación de violencia. En materia legislativa, el Ministerio de la Mujer presentó los avances de laMesa de Marco Legal y Normativo,que trabaja en la actualización de laLey Integral para Prevenir, Atender, Sancionar y Erradicar la Violencia contra las Mujeres, denominada como Ley Mirabal, con el objetivo de armonizarla con las recientes reformas delCódigo Penaly fortalecer las medidas de protección para las víctimas. En el encuentro también se compartieron los avances del proyecto deLey del Sistema Nacional de Cuidados,iniciativa que busca reconocer el cuidado como un derecho, promover lacorresponsabilidadentre el Estado, las familias y la sociedad, y generarnuevas oportunidades de empleoen la economía del cuidado. De igual manera, se dieron a conocer las acciones de fortalecimiento del sistema de monitoreo del Plan Estratégico Nacional por una Vida Libre de Violencia, herramienta que permitirá medir el cumplimiento de las metas, establecer indicadores, identificar responsables, asignar recursos y evaluar periódicamente el impacto de las intervenciones. Como parte de los acuerdos alcanzados, la ministra de la Mujer,Gloria Reyes, y la directora ejecutiva de Mujeres en Desarrollo Dominicana (MUDE),Rosa Rita Álvarez,formalizaron la transferencia de la plataforma digital y de los productos desarrollados en el marco delproyecto “Nuevas Narrativas para la Prevención de la Violencia Basada en Género”,una iniciativa que fortalecerá las acciones desensibilización, prevención y educacióndirigidas a la ciudadanía. Además de la plataforma digital, el acuerdo comprende la campaña comunicacional, materiales educativos, publicaciones, contenidos digitales, estudios, bases de datos y demás recursos generados por el proyecto. Otro de los temas abordados fue elPrograma Nacional Mujer Libre,una propuesta presentada por el Defensor del Pueblo para impulsar la autonomía económica de mujeres sobrevivientes de violencia mediante programas decapacitación, inserción laboral y alianzascon el sector privado, iniciativa que será desarrollada de manera conjunta con diversas instituciones del Estado. El Gabinete de Mujeres, Adolescentes y Niñas está integrado pordiversas instituciones del Estado,encabezado por el Ministerio de la Mujer, que lo preside y coordina, junto con los ministerios de la Presidencia; Interior y Policía; Defensa; Salud Pública y Asistencia Social; Educación; Educación Superior, Ciencia y Tecnología; Trabajo; Economía, Planificación y Desarrollo, y de la Juventud, así como un representante del Poder Judicial designado por el Consejo del Poder Judicial, la Procuraduría General de la República, el Servicio Nacional de Salud (SNS), el Consejo Nacional para la Niñez y la Adolescencia (Conani), la Policía Nacional, la Oficina Nacional de Estadística y la Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD). Asimismo, participan el Centro de Investigación para la Acción Femenina (Cipaf), la Asociación Dominicana Pro-Bienestar de la Familia (Profamilia) y el Núcleo de Apoyo a la Mujer (NAM – Santiago), en representación de la sociedad civil como asociaciones u organizaciones de mujeres con reconocida trayectoria en el abordaje de la violencia contra las mujeres.
