Intrant aclara que no ha autorizado aumento en pasajes del transporte público
Santo Domingo.-The National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (Intrant) reported that it has not authorized any increase in public passenger transportation rates, which is why it urged citizens not to pay increases in the cost of the ticket.
The institution recalled that article 125 of Law no. 63-17 of Mobility, Land Transportation, Traffic and Road Safety establishes that the tariff regime for the provision of passenger transportation service is the exclusive responsibility of Intrant.
In this sense, he specified that no driver, union, federation, company or transportation service provider is authorized to increase the price of the ticket unilaterally, since any modification to the fares must be previously authorized by the governing body.
The executive director of Intrant, Milton Morrison, warned that any increase applied without the corresponding authorization constitutes a violation of Law 63-17 and may give rise to the administrative sanctions provided for in current regulations, including the imposition of fines on those who fail to comply with the legal provisions.
Morrison reiterated that the protection of the rights of public transport users is a priority for the institution and urged citizens not to pay unauthorized increases in fares, while calling on them to report any irregular charges through Intrant's official channels.
Likewise, he assured that any decision related to transportation rates will be informed in a timely manner by the institution, in accordance with the provisions of Law 63-17.

Morrison reiteró que la protección de los derechos de los usuarios del transporte público constituye unaprioridad para la institucióny exhortó a la ciudadanía ano pagar aumentos no autorizadosen el pasaje, al tiempo que hizo un llamado adenunciar cualquier cobro irregulara través de los canales oficiales del Intrant. Asimismo, aseguró que toda decisión relacionada con las tarifas del transporte seráinformada oportunamentepor la institución, conforme a lo establecido en la Ley 63-17.
