Damascus, July 5 (SANA)President Ahmad al-Sharaa issued Decree No. 147 for the year 2026 on Sunday, establishing “The National University for Defense Sciences,” a specialized educational and training scientific university for military sciences.

According to the decree, the newly established institution will be headquartered inDamascusand will possess a corporate body alongside full financial and administrative independence, with the authorization to establish affiliated colleges, institutes, and centers across Damascus and other provinces.

The decree specifies that the university will comprise the Higher Military Academy, which includes the National Defense College, the Higher War College, and the Command and Staff College. Additionally, the university will encompass the Air Force College, the Naval Warfare College, the Military Academy, the College of Humanities and Administration, the Higher Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology, and various military technical institutes.M.Q.R./H
