Cooperativa Agropecuaria de la Federación de Ganaderos de la Línea Noroeste reconoce al presidente Abinader por su respaldo al sector ganadero y por impulsar la incorporación de leche nacional al Programa de Alimentación Escolar
Santiago Rodríguez.- The Agricultural Cooperative of the Federation of Livestock Farmers of the Northwest Line (Coopfedegano) presented a recognition to President Luis Abinader for his invaluable support to the national livestock sector and for having promoted the historic public policy that guarantees the incorporation of nationally produced milk to the School Feeding Program, an initiative that has strengthened food sovereignty, energized the rural economy and dignified the work of thousands of Dominican producers.
The recognition highlights that thanks to this transcendental initiative, the cooperative milk processing plant went from facing serious difficulties to becoming a model of recovery, efficiency and success, ensuring the supply of quality milk for school breakfast and generating well-being for the livestock families of the Northwest Line.
During the event, President Abinader defined Coopfedegano as a successful, entrepreneurial cooperative and an example, considering that its experience should serve as a reference for other production cooperatives in the country, especially those in the livestock sector. "You have to go and advise many cooperatives in the country, especially cooperatives of this type, production cooperatives, in the livestock area, because you have been a successful cooperative."
In response to the requests presented by the cooperative, the president indicated that these will be attended to and stated that the Government's support responds to the results achieved by the entity. "It is really not cooperation, it is necessary support for an institution that has been successful, that has been an example; we will continue to support it," he stated.
Likewise, he highlighted the efforts and perseverance of the producers to overcome difficult moments and consolidate the growth of the cooperative. "You have been examples of work, examples of sacrifice, because you have gone through difficult times, but you have known how to overcome them, you have managed to jump through those difficult moments and lead this cooperative successfully for the good of its members and all the producers of the Northwest Line."
President Abinader also highlighted the efficiency of the region's ranchers in milk production and reiterated his administration's commitment to continue supporting the sector. "Count on continuing the support of the Presidency, the support of the Government," he expressed, while inviting producers to continue presenting suggestions, opinions and recommendations to continue strengthening national livestock farming.
Finally, the president reiterated his satisfaction with the achievements made by the cooperative. "We feel very pleased and admired by the work of this great cooperative."
A president who understood the needs of the sector
For his part, the agricultural advisor to the Executive Branch, Eric Rivero, recalled that 25 years ago the dream of building the milk processing plant was born, an initiative that began with the holding of 19 livestock auctions that made it possible to gather the initial resources to make that project a reality.
He stated that a work of this magnitude would not have been possible without the support of the State and a president who understood the needs of the sector, highlighting that, although this is the third president to visit the plant, it was with the decisions and public policies promoted by President Luis Abinader, especially those aimed at strengthening production and guaranteeing markets for milk, that the project became a reality.
He noted that today the plant exhibits exemplary compliance in the School Feeding Program with the supply of pasteurized milk and continues to expand with new projects, such as the yogurt plant and the marketing of milk for the general market. Likewise, he defined this initiative as a story of hard-working people who, despite the difficulties, have maintained the spirit and the hope of moving forward. He also highlighted the benefits received by ranchers through programs such as Promegan, the support of the Agricultural Bank and the strengthening of the plant, ensuring that the ranching communities of the Northwest Line are celebrating today.
Support from President Abinader has allowed important advances for the sector
Meanwhile, the president of the Northwest Livestock Federation (Fedegano), Franklin Espinal, valued the presence of President Luis Abinader in the home of the livestock farmers and thanked him for the support that, he stated, has allowed important advances for the sector. He highlighted that today Coopfedegano is a reality and represents a path of no return for the producers of the Northwest Line, just as he assured that, with the support of the president and the authorities, they will continue working to strengthen national livestock farming and respond to the mission of representing and defending the interests of livestock farmers.
In addition, the administrator of Coopfedegano, Pedro Thomas, stated that thanks to public policies supporting the sector, especially through the Livestock Improvement Program (Promegan), the historic decision to prioritize the use of national milk in school breakfast, the permanent support of Conaleche and the trust placed in the cooperative by INABIE, trust to which they have responded with the highest standards of quality, safety, responsibility and compliance, today they can proudly show the results of that commitment.
"Mr. President, for me, a simple farmer and milker, it represents an immense honor to be able to show you the progress we have made during your mandate. But, above all, to be able to ask you for the tools that will allow us to consolidate, maintain and strengthen this project in the years to come. Thank you very much for believing in our producers, for supporting the Dominican countryside and for demonstrating that when you invest in national production, the development of an entire country is strengthened. And let us remember today and always that: Without production there is no nation."
Thomas asked President Abinader to expand Coopfedegano's participation in the School Feeding Program, going from the 82,000 portions that it currently supplies to 125,000, corresponding to the installed capacity of the plant. He explained that only 45,000 additional rations are required and assured that they have the infrastructure, equipment, trucks, personnel and the necessary quality of milk to take on this increase. Likewise, he requested the support of the Government to manage, through the Agricultural Bank, a line of credit of RD 70 million intended for the development of the new yogurt production line and the marketing of its products in the local market.

Afirmó que una obra de esa magnitudno habría sido posible sin el apoyo del Estado y de un presidente que comprendiera las necesidades del sector, destacando que, aunque este es el tercer mandatario que visita la planta, ha sido con las decisiones ypolíticas públicas impulsadas por el presidente Luis Abinader, especialmente las orientadas a fortalecer la producción y garantizar mercados para la leche, queel proyecto se convirtió en una realidad. Señaló que hoy la planta exhibe uncumplimiento ejemplar en el Programa de Alimentación Escolarcon el suministro de leche pasteurizada y continúa expandiéndose connuevos proyectos, como la planta de yogur y la comercialización de leche para el mercado en general. Thomas solicitó al presidente Abinader ampliar la participación de Coopfedegano en el Programa de Alimentación Escolar,pasando de las 82,000 raciones que actualmente suplena 125,000, correspondientes a la capacidad instalada de la planta. Explicó que solo se requieren 45,000 raciones adicionales y aseguró que cuentan con la infraestructura, los equipos, los camiones, el personal y la calidad necesaria en la leche para asumir ese incremento. Asimismo, pidió el respaldo del Gobierno para gestionar, a través del Banco Agrícola,una línea de crédito de RD 70 millonesdestinada al desarrollo de la nueva línea de producción deyogury a la comercialización de susproductos en el mercado local.
