The current state and prospects of multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and the European Union were discussed during the meeting with Tanzila Narbayeva, the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis.

Toivo Klaar emphasized that the European Union highly appreciates the large-scale democratic reforms consistently implemented in Uzbekistan in recent years, as well as measures to strengthen parliament’s role and enhance the effectiveness of legislative activity. He also confirmed the European Union’s interest in deepening mutually beneficial cooperation with Uzbekistan.

The parties expressed confidence that the full entry into force of the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement will elevate bilateral relations to a new level and stressed the importance of its early ratification by the parliaments of the EU member states.

Special attention was also given to the expansion of inter-parliamentary cooperation, particularly the continuation of joint initiatives within the framework of the Inter Pares project.

The parties exchanged views on continuing an open and constructive dialogue, intensifying inter-parliamentary ties, and enriching mutually beneficial cooperation through new practical projects.
