Trump praises U.S., denounces communism in Independence Day address

Washington, July 5 (SANA)U.S. PresidentDonald Trumppraised the United States and denounced communism during a speech marking the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence.

According to Agence France-Presse (AFP), Trump’s address inWashingtonwas delayed for several hours because of severe weather. He said the United States had become “prouder than ever” during his presidency and described the country as “the crowning achievement in human history.”

Trump paid tribute to U.S. veterans ofWorld War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War, saying their service helped confront the spread of communism.

“Our soldiers did not fight communism on battlefields around the world only to see that threat return here in America,” Trump said. “We will never let that happen.”

He also referred to recent U.S. military operations involving Iran and Venezuela, saying Washington had “eliminated” Iranian forces.

The speech, which lasted about 45 minutes, coincided with nationwide celebrations of the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence, including fireworks displays.

The Fourth of July (Independence Day) commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, when the thirteen American colonies declared their independence from Great Britain.
