Syria, ICAO discuss cooperation to develop civil aviation sector

Damascus, July 5 (SANA)Syria’s General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) discussed expanding technical cooperation to support the development of the country’s civil aviation sector, the authority said on Sunday.

Omar Hosari, head of the authority, met with anICAOdelegation in Damascus to review cooperation in aviation safety, aviation security, air traffic management and institutional capacity-building in line with international standards.

Technical teams from both sides also held specialized meetings on regulatory and operational issues aimed at strengthening compliance with ICAO standards and supporting the modernization ofSyria’s civil aviation sector.

The ICAO delegation included regional specialists in air traffic management, aircraft operations, aviation safety, safety implementation, information management, and aviation security and facilitation.

The visit forms part of ongoing cooperation between Syria’s civil aviation authority and ICAO to advancetechnical programsand align the country’s aviation sector with international standards and best practices.
