Jordan thwarts drug smuggling attempt using remotely guided balloons
Amman, July 5 (SANA)Jordan’s Eastern Military Zone said on Sunday it had thwarted two attempts to smuggle large quantities of narcotics across the country’s eastern border using remotely guided balloons.
According to the Jordan News Agency (Petra), border guards detected, intercepted and brought down the balloons inside Jordanian territory in coordination with security agencies and theAnti-Narcotics Department.
The seized narcotics were handed over to the relevant authorities for legal procedures, Petra reported.
The operation follows a similar incident on June 25, when Jordan’s Eastern Military Zone said it had foiled an attempt to smuggle drugs across the eastern border using remotely guided balloons.
