Presidential team condemns demolition of Qamishli Municipality Building
Hasakah, July 4 (SANA)Thepresidential teamoverseeing the implementation of the Jan. 29 agreement with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said on Saturday that the demolition of the historic municipal building in the northeastern city ofQamishliby the so-called Autonomous Administration constitutes an attack on one of the city’s architectural and historical landmarks.
In a statement, the team said public property and government buildings belong to all Syrians and should not be altered, repurposed, or subjected to administrative or legal changes outside the framework of state institutions and applicable laws.
It called on institutions and bodies affiliated with the “SDF” that have not yet completed integration procedures to immediately halt any actions involving public property or government buildings and to refrain from taking unilateral measures or creating new facts on the ground.
The team said such steps are necessary to support the integration process and preserve state institutions and public assets.
It added that protecting public institutions and preserving Hasakah province’s historical and cultural heritage is a shared responsibility that contributes to strengthening stability and the rule of law.
