Presidente Abinader lleva el Sistema 911 a Montecristi y fortalece la respuesta a emergencias para más de 157,000 habitantes
Montecristi.-President Luis Abinader left the National 911 Emergency Response and Security System in operation this Saturday in the Montecristi province, to guarantee 157,589 inhabitants and visitors a coordinated emergency response service with high standards of quality and professionalism in the face of incidents reported by citizens.
The entry into operation in Montecristi brings to 27 the number of provinces integrated into the 911 System, expanding its coverage to 94.64% of the population, which translates into more than 9.6 million citizens who now have this essential and free emergency response service.
911 will cover the municipalities of San Fernando de Montecristi, Castañuelas, Guayubín, Las Matas de Santa Cruz, Pepillo Salcedo and Villa Vásquez, so that it covers the entire province, through a robust operating model, a benchmark in the region.
During the event, President Abinader highlighted that the National 911 Emergency and Security Assistance System is the result of coordination between different State institutions, including the fire brigades, the Military and Police Commission (Comipol), the National Police and the Directorate of Extra-hospital Emergency Assistance (DAEH). He pointed out that this is a coordination that the Government has been strengthening and perfecting to offer an increasingly efficient response to the population.
The president urged citizens to use the service responsibly. "A lot also depends on you, the population, using it responsibly, on whether the calls are really for needs, because a call that is for a useless act, without need, puts the life of another person who does need it at risk," he expressed.
Likewise, he highlighted that the arrival of the 911 System responds to the growth and development of the province. "Montecristi, which has been developing from an industrial point of view and is going to develop more from a tourist point of view, needs 911 and that is why 911 arrives here, to Montecristi," he stated.
At the conclusion of his words about the implementation of the service, the president reiterated his call to care for and use the system correctly. "I hope that it is used fully, responsibly, that it is protected and that 911 saves many lives here," he said.
The president was accompanied by the Minister of the Presidency and president of the National Emergency and Security Council, José Ignacio Paliza; the director of the Directorate of Out-of-Hospital Emergencies (DAEH), Major General (r)Juan Manuel Méndez García; the executive director of the 911 System, pilot colonel Randolfo Rijo Gómez (ERD) and the provincial governor of Montecristi, Leissa Virginia Cruz Polanco.
For his part, the executive director of the National Emergency Assistance and Security System 911, pilot Colonel Randolfo Rijo Gómez, thanked President Abinader for his support for the growth of the system. "His vision and unwavering commitment to the safety and lives of Dominicans has made it possible for this system to grow like never before, bringing protection to provinces that for years waited for this moment. Mr. President, you instructed us not to rest until every Dominican was covered and today we give one more step towards that goal."
Rijo Gómez stated that with the incorporation of Montecristi into the system, today they are not simply inaugurating a service, but rather settling a historic debt with the northwest of the country and highlighted that, from now on, the inhabitants of the province will have a comprehensive, immediate, coordinated and professional response to any emergency.
He added that the implementation of the service also includes the strengthening of the national video surveillance network, with the installation of new cameras in strategic points. "Each camera installed is a clear message that in Montecristi the State is present and vigilant," he said.
He indicated that this expansion is possible thanks to the deployment of 472 men and women who are at the service of the province as of today. He specified that the DAEH incorporates 242 people and 13 fully equipped ambulances; the National Police, 117 agents, 14 vans and 20 rapid response motorcycles,"which allow us to arrive in minutes where every second counts"; the Fire Department, 80 men and women and 15 trucks; Comipol, 25 new members with 4 vans, a workshop truck, a rescue and extraction truck, a crane and an additional ambulance; while Digesett provides agents, a van and 3 motorcycles for traffic management and security. He highlighted that all personnel have been recruited, evaluated and trained under the standards of the 911 System and that many of them are children of the province of Montecristi itself.
In addition, he said that behind each unit and each resource deployed there is "the promise that each emergency will be attended to by all the necessary agencies to save life and property."
He also stressed that from now on, from this moment, there will always be a voice that responds and behind that voice an entire State that will mobilize to help them, in addition to urging the population to use the service responsibly. "Use it responsibly, teach your children that 911 is the number that saves lives and help us take care of it, because each improper call can cost valuable time to those who really need it."
National coverage of pre-hospital care exceeds 96%
Meanwhile, the director of the Directorate of Out-of-Hospital Emergencies (DAEH), Major General (r) Juan Manuel Méndez García, highlighted that, with this incorporation, the national coverage of pre-hospital care exceeds 96%, which means more families protected and more opportunities to save lives. He also pointed out that the ambulances will be strategically distributed to offer an efficient and quality service. "Behind each of these units there are men and women prepared to respond in critical moments, professionals committed to providing timely care, alleviating suffering and saving lives," he said.
He indicated that this expansion will strengthen the response to traffic accidents, medical emergencies, cardiovascular events, strokes, maternal complications and all those situations in which pre-hospital care makes the difference between life and death, while providing greater peace of mind to families, producers, merchants, tourists and citizens of the province. Likewise, he maintained that this service constitutes a desire of the Montecristi people, but also a citizen commitment to its responsible use.
During his speech, the head of the DAEH thanked the president for his support and expressed: "You can count on a concerned man, a man who faces situations, but above all with a humane and highly sensitive person like President Luis Abinader, who cares that well-being also reaches their homes. Thank you, Mr. President, for that gift of people and, above all, for that gift of service."
Likewise, Governor Cruz Polanco expressed that President Abinader has demonstrated with actions that he has Montecristi present. "Our president has listened to the needs of this province and has supported initiatives that today translate into concrete solutions for their communities and for those of us who love this land, that has great value. The 911 System articulates response institutions from their contact and dispatch centers, where highly trained operators, dispatchers and supervisors manage each emergency under international protocols, with georeferencing of calls and monitoring of each case until its closure.
The blessing of the event was carried out by the Parish Priest of the San Fernando Parish, Jaime Tomás Ulloa.

Asimismo, resaltó que la llegada del Sistema 911 responde alcrecimiento y desarrollo de la provincia."Montecristi, que se ha ido desarrollando desde el punto de vista industrial y que se va a desarrollar más desde el punto de vista turístico, necesita el 911 y por eso llega el 911 aquí, a Montecristi",afirmó. Cobertura nacional de atención prehospitalaria supera el 96 % En tanto, el director de la Dirección de Atención a Emergencias Extrahospitalarias (DAEH), mayor general (r)Juan Manuel Méndez García, destacó que, con esta incorporación,la cobertura nacional de atención prehospitalaria supera el 96 %, lo que significa más familias protegidas y más oportunidades de salvar vidas. Igualmente señaló quelas ambulancias estarán estratégicamente distribuidaspara ofrecer un servicio eficiente y de calidad. "Detrás de cada una de estas unidades hay hombres y mujeres preparados para responder en los momentos críticos, profesionales comprometidos con brindar atención oportuna, aliviar el sufrimiento y salvar vidas",expresó. Indicó que esta expansión fortalecerá la respuesta ante accidentes de tránsito, emergencias médicas, eventos cardiovasculares, accidentes cerebrovasculares, complicaciones maternas y todas aquellas situaciones en las que laatención prehospitalaria marca la diferencia entre la vida y la muerte, al tiempo que brindará mayor tranquilidad a las familias, productores, comerciantes, turistas y ciudadanos de la provincia. Asimismo, sostuvo que este servicio constituye un anhelo del pueblo montecristeño, pero también uncompromiso ciudadano con su uso responsable. Durante su intervención, el titular de la DAEH agradeció al presidente por su respaldo y expresó:"Cuenten ustedes con un hombre preocupado, un hombre que enfrenta las situaciones, pero sobre todo con una persona humana y de gran sensibilidad como el presidente Luis Abinader, que se preocupa porque el bienestar también llegue a sus casas. Gracias, señor presidente, por ese don de gente y, sobre todo, por ese don de servicio". De igual forma, lagobernadora Cruz Polancoexpresó que el presidente Abinader ha demostrado con hechos que tiene a Montecristi presente. "Nuestro presidente ha escuchado las necesidades de esta provincia y ha respaldado iniciativas que hoy se traducen en soluciones concretas para sus comunidades y para quienes amamos esta tierra, eso tiene un gran valor. El Sistema 911 articula a las instituciones de respuesta desde suscentros de contacto y despacho, donde operadores, despachadores y supervisores altamente capacitados gestionan cada emergencia bajo protocolos internacionales, con georreferenciación de las llamadas yseguimiento de cada caso hasta su cierre.
