More than 2,700 Gaza families wiped out after 1,000 days of war

Occupied Jerusalem, July 3 (SANA)More than 2,700 Palestinian families have been completely wiped out and removed from the civil registry after all of their members were killed.

GazaGovernment Media Office Director Ismail Al-Thawabta told Anadolu Agency that more than 90% of the Gaza Strip has been destroyed after 1,000 days of the Israeli offensive.

Al-Thawabta said the war has devastated tens of thousands of Palestinian homes. He stated that more than 40,000 families have been destroyed, while another 12,000 have been left with only a single surviving member, describing the scale of the tragedy as evidence of the depth of Gaza’s humanitarian crisis.

He also said that more than 73,000 people have been killed during the offensive, over 173,000 injured, and around 9,500 remain missing.

According to Al-Thawabta, hundreds of bodies remain in streets and areas under Israeli military control because ambulance and civil defense teams have been unable to recover them due to ongoing military operations.

Al-Thawabta said the Israeli offensive has destroyed residential neighborhoods, hospitals, schools, universities, places of worship, and water, electricity and sanitation networks, leaving much of Gaza’s infrastructure inoperable.

He said hospitals that remain operational are providing only about one-fifth of the services they offered before the war, adding that more than 22,000 wounded and sick people require evacuation for treatment outside Gaza.

In the interview, Al-Thawabta said more than one million displaced people are living in the Al-Mawasi area in southern Gaza, in camps with limited access to water, food and healthcare. He also said more than 80% of Gaza’s population is living below the poverty line and that around 1.1 million children receive only one meal a day.

Al-Thawabta accused the international community of failing to stop the war or ensure the protection of civilians, and called for accelerating the delivery of humanitarian aid and the start of reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip.F.J./M.Z.
