Presidente Mulino resalta importancia del principio de independencia durante celebración de los 250 años de Estados Unidos
The President of the Republic, José Raúl Mulino, sent a message of unity to the American people, through the United States ambassador in Panama, Kevin Marino Cabrera, during the event celebrating the 250 years of independence, an event where he highlighted the recognition of the importance of the independence processes as a source of political emancipation, identity and values of a free nation.
Accompanied by the first lady Maricel Cohen de Mulino, the president added that Panama not only celebrates independence, but defends it and, in addition, highlighted the history between both countries that, although different, have found each other over time, even in our independence from the Republic of Colombia.
Mulino, during his message, also highlighted and reaffirmed the autonomy of the Panama Canal, which he highlighted that - backed by the Neutrality Treaty - serves world trade, expanded and functioning efficiently in Panamanian hands.
"Both nations built a relationship of friendship and cooperation in which dialogue and respect for national sovereignty must always prevail," he concluded.
This July 4, the United States will celebrate Freedom 250, two hundred and fifty years of its independence, a historical event that occurred in 1776 and that laid the foundations for the ideals of freedom, democracy and individual rights that influence independence and democratic movements worldwide.
At the reception event, offered at the Biomuseo facilities, at the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal, Ambassador Cabrera highlighted the years that both sister nations have walked together, through a resilient, deep and mutually beneficial relationship.
He highlighted the North American nation as the main trade and investor partner. He highlighted the joint work that put an end to migration through the Darién, as well as social assistance projects and, in addition, the work they have carried out with the Office of the First Lady to bring water to 40 schools in the country.
The event, which was also attended by the Minister of the Presidency, Juan Carlos Orillas, and his wife, as well as other ministers and authorities, began with the reception of guests, while the Chamber Orchestra of the University of Panama performed pieces by American composers from the jazz era. The formal events began with Ambassador Cabrera and President Mulino at the center of the stage for the entry of the American flag by the Marine Corps, and then the national anthems of Panama and the United States were performed.
The Panamanian national anthem was performed by Panamanian singer Idania Dowman, while the United States national anthem was performed by American singer Technical Sergeant Sarah Dionne of the US Air Force.
After the words of the ambassador and the president, the singer Sarah Dionne performed God Bless America, which closed the formal events.

En el acto de recepción, ofrecido en las instalaciones del Biomuseo, en la entrada el Pacífico del Canal de Panamá, el embajador Cabrera, destacó los años que han caminado juntas ambas naciones hermanas, a través de una relación resiliente, profunda y mutuamente beneficiosa. Destacó a la nación norteamericana como el principal socio comercial y de inversionistas. Resaltó el trabajo en conjunto que puso fin a la migración por el Darién, asi como proyectos de asistencia social y, además, el trabajo que han desarrollado con el Despacho de la Primera Dama para llevar agua a 40 escuelas del país. El evento donde también asistió el ministro de la Presidencia, Juan Carlos Orillas y esposa, asi como otros ministros y autoridades, inició con la recepcion de invitados, mientras la Orquesta de Cámara de la Universidad de Panamá interpretaba piezas de compositores estadounidenses de la era del jazz.Los actos protocolares iniciaron con el embajador Cabrera y el presidente Mulino al centro del escenario para la entrada de la bandera estadounidense por parte del Cuerpo de Infantería de Marina, para luego interpretar los himnos nacionales de Panamá y de Los Estados Unidos. El himno nacional panameño fue interpretado por la cantante panameña Idania Dowman, mientras que el himno nacional de Estados Unidos lo interpretó la cantante estadounidense, sargento técnico Sarah Dionne, de las Fuerzas Aéreas de EE.UU. Luego de las palabras del embajador y el presidente, la cantante Sarah Dionne interpretó God Bless America, lo que cerró los actos protocolares.
