Prime Minister Skerrit to Attend CARICOM Heads of Government Meeting following Regional Conference in Martinique

Prime Minister Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit will travel to St. Lucia this weekend to participate in the Fifty-first Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM, where regional leaders will deliberate on key issues affecting the Caribbean and chart the way forward on the Community’s shared priorities.

Heads of Government will discuss a wide range of matters, including regional security, food production, climate resilience, renewable energy, transportation, economic integration, developments in Haiti, youth development and the rising cost of living, which continues to impact every CARICOM Member State.

“Dominica will continue advocating practical regional solutions that strengthen resilience, deepen Caribbean integration and improve the lives of our people,” Prime Minister Skerrit told a press conference on Thursday.

Prior to the CARICOM Meeting, the Prime Minister participated in theConférence de Coopération Régionale Antilles-Guyane (CCRAG)in Martinique on Friday.

Regional leaders and partners discussed disaster preparedness, climate resilience, transportation, security, health and sustainable development, with a focus on strengthening cooperation among the territories of the wider Caribbean.

Prime Minister Skerrit addressed the Joint Session of the Caribbean Regional Security Conference on the evolving security challenges facing the region, including border security, cybersecurity, disaster resilience, food and energy security and the protection of democratic institutions.
