President of Uzbekistan concludes his state visit to GeorgiaThe President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has concluded his state visit to Georgia. At Shota Rustaveli International Airport, the distinguished guest was seen off by the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze.
During his stay in Tbilisi, the President of Uzbekistan held talks with the President of Georgia Mikheil Kavelashvili and the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze.
The parties reviewed key issues related to strengthening friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Georgia, as well as expanding practical interaction in the political, trade and economic, investment, transport and transit, tourism, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
Following the talks, a Declaration on the Establishment of Strategic Partnership was signed. A substantial package of bilateral documents aimed at deepening cooperation in priority areas was also exchanged.
A solemn ceremony was held at Orbeliani Palace to present the President of Uzbekistan with Georgia’s highest state award, the Order of the Golden Fleece.
The President of Uzbekistan also took part in the unveiling ceremony of a monument to the great poet and thinker Alisher Navoi in Tbilisi.
Following the state visit, the President of Uzbekistan departed for Tashkent.
