RD colaborará con México para elevar la investigación en hidrocarburos e innovación energética
Santo Domingo.-The Dominican Republic will collaborate with Mexico to strengthen the capacity for research, innovation and technological development in the energy and hydrocarbon sector, after the signing of an agreement between the Ministry of Energy and Mines and the Mexican Petroleum Institute.
The agreement opens the door to the development of joint research projects, knowledge transfer, training of specialized human capital and academic cooperation, at a time when the country seeks to strengthen its technical and scientific capabilities in strategic areas linked to energy.
The signing of the agreement was led by the Minister of Energy and Mines, Joel Santos, and the ambassador of Mexico in the Dominican Republic, Carlos Miguel Aysa González. On behalf of the Mexican Petroleum Institute, the general director, Elizabeth Mar Juárez, and the director of Technological Marketing, Sergio Edgard Sánchez Morrill signed.
The alliance will have an initial validity of three years and contemplates the execution of teaching, research, scientific dissemination, technology transfer initiatives, as well as the organization of seminars, workshops, conferences, forums and other specialized activities in areas of common interest.
During the event, the authorities stressed the importance of training specialized human talent and strengthening technical cooperation as a way to modernize the energy sector, increase its innovation capacity and generate positive impacts on the economic and social development of both countries.
The agreement also includes actions to promote a culture of rational use of energy resources, in addition to establishing mechanisms to safeguard the confidentiality of the information exchanged and regulate the management of intellectual property derived from the projects that are developed jointly.
The Vice Ministry of Hydrocarbons and the Technology Marketing Directorate of the Mexican Petroleum Institute were designated as liaisons to monitor the execution of the agreement.
The consul of Mexico in the Dominican Republic, Rashi Hernández, also participated in the activity; the Vice Minister of Hydrocarbons, Noel Báez; the director of International Relations, Gustavo Mejía-Ricart; the legal director, Nadia Martínez; the director of Regulation, import and use of hydrocarbons, Wandy Tejada, and Ignacio González, analyst of Multilateral Affairs of the Ministry.

Como enlaces para dar seguimiento a la ejecución del convenio fueron designados elViceministerio de Hidrocarburos y la Dirección de Comercialización de Tecnologíasdel Instituto Mexicano del Petróleo.
