Syrian Oil Company advances gas production, unveils strategic investment plans

Damascus, July 3 (SANA)Damascus, July 3 (SANA) The SyrianOilCompany has begun implementing a project withSaudi energy services company ADESto develop and operate several gas fields in the central province of Homs, as part of efforts to increase domestic gas production and strengthen the country’senergy sector.

The company said work officially began after operational sites were handed over to ADES, following the signing of an implementation agreement on April 5.

The project aims to increase production from the gas fields by 25 percent during the first six months and by 50 percent by the middle of next year, raising output to around 4 million cubic meters of gas per day to support electricity generation.

Walid al-Youssef, the company’s Deputy Executive Director for Exploration and Production, said the project will be carried out in accordance with high standards of quality, safety and operational security. He added that it includes technology transfer and training for Syrian personnel to support the development of the gas sector and strengthen the country’s energy security.

Separately, theSyrian Oil Companyoutlined its long-term investment strategy during the Syrian-British Business Council (SBBC) conference held in Damascus on Wednesday under the theme “Building a Diverse Economy.”

Alaa al-Din Mreiden, Director of Strategic Planning Operations and Project Management, presented the company’s future plans and highlighted strategic partnerships with international energy companies aimed at developing gas fields and increasing production.

He also outlined investment opportunities and potential cooperation with private-sector and international companies, including projects to develop gas infrastructure, expand oil and gas transmission networks, and establish a specialized chemical industrial complex.
