Turkish FM Fidan criticizes Israel, highlights NATO summit in Ankara
Ankara, July 3 (SANA)Turkish Foreign MinisterHakan Fidansaid Israel was a “reckless gang” undermining the international order, according to Anadolu Agency on Thursday.
Speaking to CNN Türk, Fidan said Israel was, in his view, a state that commits massacres and injustice, adding that it was governed by what he described as a “reckless gang”. He said Israel was not only a problem for Türkiye but for the wider world, and accused it of attempting to create new enemies to reshape its international image.
Fidan also said PresidentRecep Tayyip Erdoğan’s image as a trustworthy and reliable partner had helped facilitate understanding between the United States and Iran.
On the upcomingNATOsummit in Ankara on July 7–8, Fidan said it would be the largest in the alliance’s history, citing the inclusion of a Defense Industry Forum in the official program for the first time.
He also said US PresidentDonald Trumphad shown strong willingness to lift CAATSA sanctions on Türkiye, and that Ankara was taking steps toward their removal. The United States imposed the sanctions during Trump’s first term afterTürkiyeacquired Russian air defense systems, following Washington’s refusal under former President Barack Obama to sell similar systems.
