Gobierno inicia construcción de multiuso en Villa Hermosa, La Romana
La Romana.–The Ministry of Sports and Recreation began this Thursday the construction of a multi-use roof in the municipality of Villa Hermosa, La Romana province.
The work, which will entail an investment of almost 32 million pesos, is part of the multi-use construction program in municipalities that do not yet have this type of sports facilities, an initiative carried out by the Ministry of Sports and Recreation (Miderec) with the support of President Luis Abinader.
Minister Kelvin Cruz highlighted that these works reaffirm the Government's commitment to continue providing communities with sports infrastructure so that youth can practice sports in all provinces of the country.
"It is a source of great joy to be here working for a driving tool such as sport. President Luis Abinader has accompanied me at every moment with the necessary resources for this transformation and, today, Villa Hermosa is a witness to this work. The Dominican Republic will have at least one multipurpose facility in each municipality, because it is a historical debt to our people," Cruz expressed.
The head of Miderec stated that “we are here giving the war cry with this investment, which is going to become hope and development for youth.”
Cruz was accompanied by the mayor of Villa Hermosa, Eduardo Familia “Kikilo”; the mayor of the municipality of La Romana, Eduardo Kery Metivier; the provincial governor, Ivelisse Mercedes Méndez, and the deputies Eugenio Cedeño, Wandy Batista and Jacqueline Fernández, as well as other municipal mayors and sports leaders.
In the area to be intervened, about 1,200 square meters, the land will be leveled and stands will be built. In addition, the beautification of the exterior areas will be carried out, with sidewalks, perimeter closure and a roof with a metal structure.
With a concrete base and floor, the work includes the construction of offices with air conditioning, mixed bathrooms, dressing rooms, service areas and bathrooms for the public.
The roof of Villa Hermosa will have two supports for professional FIBA-type boards, a digital whiteboard, a 24-second clock, a trunk for poles and a volleyball net, in addition to a general electronic screen.

El titular del Miderec afirmó que“estamos aquí dando el grito de guerra con esta inversión, que se va a convertir en esperanza y desarrollo para la juventud”. Cruz estuvo acompañado por el alcalde de Villa Hermosa,Eduardo Familia “Kikilo”;el alcalde del municipio de La Romana,Eduardo Kery Metivier; la gobernadora provincial,Ivelisse Mercedes Méndez, y los diputadosEugenio Cedeño, Wandy Batista y Jacqueline Fernández, además de otros alcaldes municipales y dirigentes deportivos. En el área a intervenir, de unos1,200 metros cuadrados, se nivelará el terreno y se construirán gradas. Además, se realizará el embellecimiento de las áreas exteriores, con aceras, cierre perimetral y un techado con estructura metálica. Con base y piso de hormigón, la obra contempla la construcción de oficinas con aire acondicionado, baños mixtos, vestidores, área de servicios y baños para el público. El techado de Villa Hermosa dispondrá de dos soportes para tableros profesionales tipo FIBA, pizarra digital, reloj de 24 segundos, cajuela para parales y malla de voleibol, además de una pantalla electrónica general.
