The Fund's purpose is to enhance research and development projects in the field of immigration issues with the goal of facilitating mutual integration of immigrants and Icelandic society.

The Ministry of Social Affairs and Housing invites applications for grants from theDevelopment Fund for Immigrant Issues. The Fund's purpose is to enhance research and development projects in the field of immigration issues with the goal of facilitating mutual integration of immigrants and Icelandic society.

In the allocation of grants from the Development Fund for Immigrant Issues in 2026, emphasis will be placed on projects that include:

·Active use of Icelandic in everyday life, both at work and during leisure time, by creating opportunities to learn and use Icelandic and encouraging people to make Icelandic their first choice in communication in Iceland. Special emphasis is placed on projects that cover real-life situations and that target young people aged 16-25 and adults.

·Support to newly arrived people and/or parents of immigrant youth attending high school(in Icelandic menntaskóli or framhaldsskóli). The objective of the projects should be to prevent social isolation and strengthening social cohesion with active participation of immigrants themselves for example using cultural mediation.

·Work against prejudice, hate speech and misinformation onlinethrough education, prevention and practical tools to respond to online discrimination and harassment.

Immigrant associations and interest groups are especially encouraged to apply.

Grants are awarded to individuals, associations, organisations, and public entities. Grants can cover up to 75% of the estimated total cost of a project. Applications may be submitted in Icelandic or English. A total of 50 million ISK is available for allocation.

Applications can be submitted up to and including15 September 2026.

Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.

·  Applications must be submitted electronically throughthe Government of Iceland‘s application portal.
