Ministro Luis Miguel De Camps lidera foro sectorial de la Asamblea del Pacto Educativo
Santo Domingo.- The Minister of Education, Luis Miguel De Camps, headed the sectoral forum of the Educational Pact Assembly, held within the framework of the National Consultation for the Future of Dominican Education, where he stated that the most lasting transformations are those that are built through dialogue and consensus, and maintained that education constitutes the basis on which the development, competitiveness and institutional strengthening of the country rest.
De Camps highlighted the role that the assembly has played in the construction of national agreements and assured that this space is key to promoting educational transformation with a State vision.
“The reforms that last are those that are born from consensus,” said De Camps, after pointing out that the assembly has accompanied the country's efforts for more than a decade to strengthen investment, quality and the institutionality of the educational system.
Likewise, he maintained that education occupies a strategic place within the reform process promoted by the government of President Luis Abinader, because it constitutes the condition that makes many of the transformations that the country demands possible.
"Education is not just another reform within the set of transformations that we are debating today. It is the condition that makes many of the others possible," he stated.
In that sense, he explained that a more competitive economy requires better prepared citizens; a more dynamic labor market demands skills in line with new realities, and more solid institutions rest on a citizenry trained in democratic values, responsibility and participation.
The forum is part of the National Consultation for the Future of Dominican Education, a process promoted by the Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic (Minerd), the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Mescyt), the Ministry of Public Administration (MAP) and the National Institute of Professional Technical Training (Infotep), with the purpose of collecting proposals from the different sectors to strengthen the national educational system.
De Camps explained that in recent weeks the Ministry of Education has held a series of meetings in different regions of the country with teachers, students, families, university authorities, representatives of the productive sector, social organizations and public servants of the educational system.
This process, he indicated, has allowed us to confirm that there is a shared will to improve Dominican education, but also the awareness that this transformation requires continuity, dialogue and co-responsibility among all the actors involved.
Likewise, he linked this process with the development vision promoted by President Luis Abinader towards the year 2036 and maintained that no reform will fully achieve its objectives without an educational system capable of forming critical citizens, competent workers, public servants of integrity and people prepared to learn, innovate and contribute to the development of the country throughout their lives.
“This forum represents an opportunity to continue strengthening our ability to build agreements through dialogue, respect and participation of different sectors of society,” he said.
At the conclusion of his speech, he urged that the decisions emanating from this process respond to both the current needs and the aspirations of future generations.
At the meeting were the executive vice president of the Economic and Social Council, César Dargam, who welcomed the participants. The technical coordinator of the Educational Pact, Elisa Elena González, presented the agenda of the assembly and later explained the work methodology developed in the thematic tables. The director of Infotep, Maira Morla, also participated; the vice minister of Mescyt, Juan Francisco Viloria, among others.
The Consultation was called by President Luis Abinader through Decree No. 309-26, as part of the construction process of theMeta RD2036, with the objective of defining a shared vision to transform the Dominican educational system.

En ese sentido, explicó que una economía más competitiva requiereciudadanos mejor preparados;un mercado laboral más dinámico demanda competencias acordes con lasnuevas realidades, y unas instituciones más sólidas descansan sobre una ciudadanía formada envalores democráticos, responsabilidad y participación. El foro forma parte de laConsulta Nacional para el Futuro de la Educación Dominicana, un proceso impulsado por elMinisterio de Educación de la República Dominicana(Minerd), elMinisterio de Educación Superior, Ciencia y Tecnología(Mescyt), elMinisterio de Administración Pública(MAP) y elInstituto Nacional de Formación Técnico Profesional(Infotep), con el propósito de recoger propuestas de los distintos sectores para fortalecer el sistema educativo nacional. De Camps explicó que el Ministerio de Educación ha desarrollado en las últimas semanasuna serie de encuentrosen distintas regiones del país con docentes, estudiantes, familias, autoridades universitarias, representantes del sector productivo, organizaciones sociales y servidores públicos del sistema educativo. Ese proceso, indicó, ha permitido confirmar que existe unavoluntad compartidade mejorar la educación dominicana, pero también la conciencia de que esa transformación requierecontinuidad, diálogo y corresponsabilidadentre todos los actores involucrados. Asimismo, vinculó este proceso con lavisión de desarrollopromovida por elpresidente Luis Abinaderhacia el año 2036 y sostuvo que ninguna reforma alcanzará plenamente sus objetivos sin un sistema educativo capaz de formarciudadanos críticos, trabajadores competentes, servidores públicos íntegrosy personas preparadas paraaprender, innovar y contribuir al desarrollodel país durante toda la vida. “Este foro representa una oportunidad para seguir fortaleciendo nuestra capacidad de construir acuerdos mediante el diálogo, el respeto y la participación de los distintos sectores de la sociedad”,manifestó. Al concluir su intervención, exhortó a que las decisiones emanadas de este proceso respondan tanto a las necesidades actuales como a las aspiraciones de las futuras generaciones. En el encuentro estuvieron el vicepresidente ejecutivo del Consejo Económico y Social,César Dargam, quien dio la bienvenida a los participantes. La coordinadora técnica del Pacto Educativo,Elisa Elena González, presentó la agenda de la asamblea y posteriormente explicó la metodología de trabajo desarrollada en las mesas temáticas. También participó la directora de Infotep,Maira Morla; el viceministro de Mescyt,Juan Francisco Viloria,entre otros. La Consulta fue convocada por el presidente Luis Abinader mediante elDecreto núm. 309-26,como parte del proceso de construcción de laMeta RD2036, con el objetivo de definir una visión compartida paratransformar el sistema educativo dominicano.
