Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi Receives a Delegation of Tribal Sheikhs and Dignitaries on the Anniversary of the 1920 Revolution ….. Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi received a number of tribal sheikhs representing the tribes that participated in the 1920 Revolution, on the occasion of the 106th anniversary of its outbreak. During the meeting, Prime Minister Al-Zaidi stressed the importance of commemorating the 1920 Revolution and its role in the establishment of the modern Iraqi state. He also highlighted the unity of Iraq’s national forces behind the fatwa of the Supreme Religious Authority at that time in support of the Iraqi people’s interests and the preservation of the country’s sovereignty. The Prime Minister further emphasized the need to safeguard the Iraqi state today by upholding the values embodied by the 1920 Revolution, combating the scourge of corruption that threatens state institutions, and continuing to implement plans to restrict arms to state authority in support of the Armed Forces and their honorable mission. He also praised the role of Iraq’s tribes, which have consistently stood in support of the rule of law, strengthened state authority, and backed the government’s service, social, and economic reform programs.
