Within the framework of his official visit to the Eastern Republic of Uruguay, the President of the Republic, José Antonio Kast, held a bilateral meeting with the President of Uruguay, Yamandú Orsi, at the Presidential Residence of Suárez y Reyes, in Montevideo, in which they reaffirmed the excellent state of relations between Chile and Uruguay and addressed a broad work agenda, aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation and regional coordination in matters of common interest. They subsequently had an expanded meeting of ministers and undersecretaries of both countries, which was made up of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Francisco Pérez Mackenna; the Minister of Public Works, Transport and Telecommunications, Louis de Grange; the Minister of Agriculture, Jaime Campos; the Undersecretary of Economy, Development and Tourism, Karlfranz Koehler; the Undersecretary of International Economic Relations, Paula Estévez; the Undersecretary of Justice, Luis Silva; and the ambassador of Chile in Uruguay, Luz Ebensperger. Among the main topics analyzed in the expanded meeting were regional coordination in security and the fight against transnational organized crime, the strengthening of cooperation mechanisms to confront organized crime and the exchange of experiences and good practices in matters of public security. Likewise, the Presidents addressed the deepening of economic integration between both countries and the opportunities that open up from the incorporation of Uruguay to the Comprehensive and Progressive Treaty of Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), an instrument that will allow progress towards greater regulatory convergence, expand investment flows and strengthen joint projection towards the Asia-Pacific region. In terms of international cooperation, both authorities reviewed initiatives related to the protection of the environment and the oceans, reaffirming their commitment to sustainable development and the conservation of marine resources. Likewise, they highlighted the importance of continuing to strengthen Antarctic cooperation between Chile and Uruguay, considering the historical presence and collaboration of both countries on the white continent. In the economic and commercial sphere, the Leaders agreed on the need to continue deepening the ties between the two nations, highlighting the broad and diversified nature of bilateral exchange. Chilean products such as wines, fruits, seafood, nuts and household goods have an important presence in the Uruguayan market, recognized for their quality and reliability. Likewise, they highlighted the existing potential to expand trade by incorporating new products and categories, taking advantage of the complementarity of both economies and the solid bilateral legal framework, made up of the Chile-Uruguay Free Trade Agreement, the Economic Complementation Agreement No. 35 between Chile and MERCOSUR, as well as such as the investment and double taxation agreements in force between both countries. The bilateral meeting reaffirmed the will of Chile and Uruguay to continue strengthening a strategic relationship based on friendship, cooperation and the defense of open, transparent and rules-based trade, consolidating a common agenda of integration and development for the benefit of both peoples.

Del mismo modo, destacaron la importancia de seguir fortaleciendo la cooperación antártica entre Chile y Uruguay, considerando la histórica presencia y colaboración de ambos países en el continente blanco.En el ámbito económico y comercial, los Mandatarios coincidieron en la necesidad de seguir profundizando los vínculos entre las dos naciones, destacando el carácter amplio y diversificado del intercambio bilateral.
