Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi Receives the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council ….. Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi received today, Wednesday, the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi and the accompanying delegation. The Secretary-General conveyed a message from the leaders of the Gulf states congratulating Prime Minister Al-Zaidi on receiving the confidence of the Council of Representatives and the formation of the new government. The meeting discussed relations between Iraq and the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council and ways to strengthen cooperation across various fields in a manner that advances shared interests and supports development and prosperity. Prime Minister Al-Zaidi stressed the government’s commitment to strengthening relations with the Gulf countries, which represent Iraq’s Arab strategic depth. He affirmed that Iraq is entering a new phase founded on the principles of building a modern state with full sovereignty, a strong economy, the rule of law, and strengthened partnerships with its Arab, regional, and international partners. For his part, GCC Secretary-General Al-Budaiwi commended the reform measures launched by Prime Minister Al-Zaidi to strengthen the economy, combat corruption, restrict arms to state authority, and build strong relations with the Gulf states.
