DECRET NO 100/084 DU 01 JUILLET 2026 PORTANT NOMINATION AUX GRADES SUPERIEURS DE CERTAINS OFFICIERS DANS LA CATEGORIE DES OFFICIERS GENERAUX DE LA FORCE DE DEFENSE NATIONALE DU BURUNDI
On the evening of June 30, 2026, the President of the Republic of Burundi and Friend of young people, His Excellency Evariste Ndayishimiye, accompanied by the First Lady, Her Excellency Angeline Ndayishimiye, enhanced with his presence the commemorative vigil “Umutwenzi Festival”, organized by the Collective of Burundi Artists at ETS Kamenge, as a prelude to the celebration of the 64th anniversary of the independence of Burundi. Burundi, proclaimed on July 1, 1962.
This evening brought together the country's High Authorities, renowned artists as well as a large crowd of young people and adults who came to celebrate together this historic date which marked Burundi's accession to national sovereignty.
In his speech, the Burundian Head of State was delighted to note that the Burundians are showing an increasingly deep attachment to their homeland. He praised the spirit of unity, solidarity and fraternity that the artists demonstrated by uniting their talents for the organization of this great cultural celebration, stressing that love of the homeland, social cohesion and defense of the Nation remain the foundations of the identity and resilience of the Burundian people.
President Ndayishimiye also congratulated the artists who, beyond their contribution to the influence of national culture, actively participate in the socio-economic development of the country through agricultural and livestock activities. He urged them to continue their noble mission by putting their talent at the service of promoting Burundian culture, rooting patriotism, strengthening national cohesion and preserving the values which constitute the basis of the identity of the Burundian people.
In an atmosphere marked by conviviality and patriotic fervor, the Burundian Head of State joined the artists present on the podium to perform, in a burst of national communion, the song “Burundi, Mutima wa Afrika” by Ciza Sylvestree, a highly symbolic moment which illustrated the proximity of President Ndayishimiye with youth and the cultural world.
Faithful to its evocative name, the Umutwenzi Festival continued until dawn, in a festive atmosphere marked by quality artistic performances, patriotic fervor and a strong communion between the artists and the public.
This night of celebration was enhanced by a spectacular fireworks display which set the sky of Bujumbura ablaze, under the admiring gaze of festival-goers and residents of the northern districts of the capital, offering a brilliant opening to the festivities marking 64 years of Burundi's independence.

Dans la soirée de ce 30 juin 2026, le Président de la République du Burundi et Ami des jeunes, Son Excellence Evariste Ndayishimiye, accompagné de la Première Dame, Son Excellence Angeline Ndayishimiye, a rehaussé de sa présence la veillée commémorative « Umutwenzi Festival », organisée par le Collectif des artistes du Burundi à l’ETS Kamenge, en prélude à la célébration du 64ᵉ anniversaire de l’indépendance du Burundi, proclamée le 1ᵉʳ juillet 1962. Cette soirée a rassemblé les Hautes Autorités du pays, des artistes de renom ainsi qu’une foule nombreuse de jeunes et d’adultes venus célébrer ensemble cette date historique qui a consacré l’accession du Burundi à la souveraineté nationale. Dans son allocution, le Chef de l’Etat burundais s’est réjoui de constater que les burundais manifestent un attachement de plus en plus profond à leur patrie. Il a salué l’esprit d’unité, de solidarité et de fraternité dont les artistes ont fait preuve en unissant leurs talents pour l’organisation de cette grande célébration culturelle, soulignant que l’amour de la patrie, la cohésion sociale et la défense de la Nation demeurent les fondements de l’identité et de la résilience du peuple burundais. Le Président Ndayishimiye a également félicité les artistes qui, au-delà de leur contribution au rayonnement de la culture nationale, participent activement au développement socio-économique du pays à travers des activités agricoles et d’élevage. Il les a exhortés à poursuivre leur noble mission en mettant leur talent au service de la promotion de la culture burundaise, de l’enracinement du patriotisme, du renforcement de la cohésion nationale et de la préservation des valeurs qui constituent le socle de l’identité du peuple burundais. Dans une ambiance empreinte de convivialité et de ferveur patriotique, le Chef de l’Etat burundais s’est joint aux artistes présents sur le podium pour interpréter, dans un élan de communion nationale, la chanson « Burundi, Mutima wa Afrika » de Ciza Sylvestree, un moment hautement symbolique qui a illustré la proximité du Président Ndayishimiye avec la jeunesse et le monde culturel. Fidèle à son appellation évocatrice, le Festival Umutwenzi s’est poursuivi jusqu’à l’aube, dans une ambiance festive marquée par des prestations artistiques de qualité, la ferveur patriotique et une forte communion entre les artistes et le public. Cette nuit de célébration a été magnifiée par un spectaculaire feu d’artifice qui a embrasé le ciel de Bujumbura, sous les regards admiratifs des festivaliers et des habitants des quartiers nord de la capitale, offrant une ouverture éclatante aux festivités marquant les 64 ans de l’indépendance du Burundi.
