Tecnificación Nacional de Riego y UTESA firman alianza para la innovación y la agricultura sostenible
Santo Domingo.-The Executive Directorate of National Irrigation Technology (TNR) and the Technological University of Santiago (Utesa) signed an inter-institutional cooperation agreement to develop joint training, research and innovation initiatives aimed at strengthening the agricultural sector and promoting it in the Dominican Republic.
The alliance, signed by Claudio Caamaño Vélez, executive director of the TNR, and Luis Bienvenido Gómez Luciano, vice-rector of Research and Scientific Production of Utesa, establishes a framework of cooperation for the development of training programs, continuing education, applied research, exchange of specialists and scientific dissemination activities aimed at strengthening the technical competencies of human talent and promoting the incorporation of innovative technologies in agriculture.
During the event, Caamaño Vélez highlighted that this agreement represents an important step to strengthen the country's technical and professional capabilities in technical irrigation.
He said that this initiative will contribute significantly to strengthening human capital specialized in irrigation technologies, through the training and updating of professionals in the most advanced tools and systems currently available for the agricultural sector.
For his part, Gómez Luciano stated that this agreement reaffirms the commitment of the house of higher studies to provide solutions to the sustainable development of Dominican agriculture through scientific research, entrepreneurship and innovation.
He also indicated that smart agriculture projects based on artificial intelligence and the strengthening of applied research reflect Utesa's commitment to the generation and transfer of knowledge to promote a more competitive and sustainable agricultural sector.
As part of the commitments assumed, National Irrigation Technique will provide specialized technical assistance and facilitate training processes in technical irrigation, while Utesa will contribute with its academic capacity, infrastructure and research experience to guarantee the success of the projects and programs developed within the framework of the agreement.
With this agreement, TNR and Utesa seal an alliance that seeks to generate knowledge, strengthen human talent and promote innovation in the agricultural sector, contributing to compliance with the National Strategy for the Technification of Irrigation Systems and the sustainable development of the Dominican Republic.
The signing of the agreement, held in the Gilberto Reynoso room, was attended by TNR, Ramón Cabrera, legal manager, Jorge Soto, operations manager, and Eriberto Tejada, head of the Extension and Training Division, among other collaborators of the institution.
Meanwhile, Utesa included María Jesús Rodríguez González, vice chancellor of International and Interinstitutional Relations and legal consultant, along with Ariana López, senior director of Communications of the Utesa Corporate System, respectively.

Indicó, además, que proyectos de agricultura inteligente basados eninteligencia artificialy el fortalecimiento de lainvestigación aplicadareflejan el compromiso de Utesa con lageneración y transferencia de conocimientopara impulsar unsector agropecuario más competitivo y sostenible. Como parte de los compromisos asumidos, Tecnificación Nacional de Riego brindaráasistencia técnica especializaday facilitará procesos deformación en materia de riego tecnificado,mientras que Utesa contribuirá con sucapacidad académica, infraestructura y experienciaen investigación para garantizar el éxito de los proyectos y programas desarrollados en el marco del convenio. Con este acuerdo, TNR y Utesa sellan una alianza que busca generar conocimientos, fortalecer el talento humano y promover lainnovación en el sector agropecuario, contribuyendo al cumplimiento de la Estrategia Nacional de Tecnificación de los Sistemas de Riego y al desarrollo sostenible de la República Dominicana.
