Syria, Türkiye discuss joint investment, border trade facilitation
Damascus, July 1, (SANA)The Damascus and its Countryside Chamber of Industry discussed with a visiting delegation from theIndependent Industrialists and Businessmen Associationof Türkiye (MÜSİAD), headed by Chairman Nivafk Yilits, a new roadmap for joint investment, knowledge transfer, and overcoming logistical challenges at border crossings.
During the meeting , both sides explored ways to improve border infrastructure and systems to facilitate trade and investment. They also discussed cooperation in transferring expertise and benefiting from Türkiye’s experience in managing industrial and commercial cities as well as the agricultural sector.
Deputy Chairman of the Chamber, Moataz Tarabishi, stressed the importance of strengthening economic partnerships between Syria andTürkiye. He noted that Syria’s economy is entering a promising phase in industry, agriculture, and tourism, with attractive investment conditions due to low production costs, skilled labor, and industrial expertise. He expressed hope that joint meetings would translate into investment projects serving the interests of both countries.
For his part, the head of the Turkish delegation highlighted the strong ties between the Syrian and Turkish peoples. He explained that MÜSİAD includes a wide network of businessmen with branches inside and outside Türkiye, aiming to promote friendship and economic cooperation, and expressed readiness to support the Syrian private sector.
Syrian industrialists called for benefiting from Turkish expertise in management, automation, and modern mechanization, and for preparing studies and action plans to develop local economic facilities, improve production quality, and reduce costs.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to establish a joint action plan for exchange visits and exhibitions to attract investments and stimulate industrial and commercial activity.
