Syria elected as member in committees at Arab civil aviation assembly
Rabat, June 30 (SANA)Syria, represented by a delegation from theCivil Aviation and Air Transport Authority, participated in the 29th session of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization’s (ACAO) General Assembly, held at the ministerial level in Rabat,Morocco, on June 29-30, the authority said on Tuesday.
The Syrian delegation was headed by ACAO President Omar Hosari and included Deputy President Amjad Nakhal and Director of Administrative Development Ghaith Suleiman, according to a statement on Telegram.
The assembly featured elections for the Executive Council and technical committees, with Syria participating in the electoral process and winning membership in the technical committees on air transport, air navigation, and environment, the statement said.
Hosari told SANA that Syria’s participation in the session carries special significance as it comes at a time when Syria is regaining its natural presence in its Arab environment, affirming its commitment to being an active partner in developing the Arab civil aviation system. He noted that the authority sensed a positive spirit and a sincere desire to enhance Arab cooperation during the meetings.
The upcoming phase requires further coordination and expertise exchange to address common challenges and benefit from opportunities presented by rapid developments in the aviation sector, he said.
The Arab Civil Aviation Organization (ACAO), headquartered in Rabat, Morocco, is a specialized organization of the League of Arab States founded in 1965 and comprising 22 member states. ACAO works to promote cooperation among Arab countries in civil aviation, develop air transport services, enhance air navigation safety and security, and establish unified aviation policies and standards. The General Assembly is ACAO’s highest authority, convening every two years to elect the Executive Council and technical committees and discuss policies for developing the civil aviation sector.
