Mescyt celebrará el XXI Congreso Internacional de Investigación Científica 2026
Santo Domingo.-The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Mescyt) announced the celebration of the XXI International Congress of Scientific Research (XXI CIC 2026), considered the most important scientific event in the Dominican Republic, which will bring together researchers, academics and experts from more than 20 countries to strengthen innovation, technology transfer and sustainable development.
The congress seeks to consolidate a space for articulation between universities, research centers, the productive sector, public institutions and international organizations, with the purpose of generating scientific solutions that respond to the main social, economic and environmental challenges of the country.
For several days, the scientific community will develop an intense academic agenda made up of six keynote conferences, seven thematic symposiums, 19 panels, four specialized courses, 29 workshops, 62 scientific poster presentations and 218 concurrent investigations, distributed in strategic areas of knowledge.
Research will cover disciplines such as Biological and Biomedical Sciences, Environmental, Agri-Food and Earth Sciences, Computer Sciences and Engineering, Social and Humanistic Sciences, Mathematics, Engineering, Industrial Processes, Materials Sciences and emerging technologies.
Artificial intelligence and science for development
One of the main axes of the congress will be artificial intelligence, presented as a transversal tool to accelerate scientific research, optimize data analysis, strengthen higher education, promote robotics, develop intelligent platforms and support the formulation of public policies based on scientific evidence.
Likewise, the program will address topics related to digital transformation, quantum information, machine learning and the application of advanced technologies in health, production, education and industry.
Health, environment and food safety
The scientific agenda will also include research on cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, mental health, genetics, molecular medicine, microbiome, fertility, nutrition, dentistry and new therapeutic strategies.
In environmental matters, studies related to climate change, coastal resilience, water management, biodiversity, ecosystem conservation, coral reefs, mangroves, invasive species and territorial adaptation to the environmental challenges of the Caribbean will be discussed.
Likewise, the Congress will dedicate special spaces to the analysis of sargassum, considered one of the main environmental challenges in the region, exploring alternatives for its use in biomolecules, cosmetics, animal feed, nutraceuticals and other products with high added value.
Science applied to the needs of the country
The XXI CIC 2026 will place special emphasis on research developed in Dominican communities, hospitals, educational centers, agricultural areas and productive territories, evidencing a scientific agenda directly connected to national needs.
Topics related to biosafety, risk management, seismic threats, epidemiological surveillance, environmental contamination, antimicrobial resistance, food safety, sustainable agriculture and evidence-based public policies will also be addressed.
Training and international cooperation
As part of its training component, the Congress will offer courses and workshops on scientific writing, data analysis, radiation protection, scientific dissemination, applied research and responsible use of emerging technologies.
The meeting will also strengthen national and international scientific cooperation through the participation of researchers from more than 20 countries and the integration of universities, research centers, cooperation organizations and representatives of the productive sector.
Mescyt highlighted that this new edition reaffirms the commitment of the Dominican Republic to strengthening scientific research as an engine of economic development, innovation and the construction of public policies based on knowledge.
Finally, the institution invited rectors, researchers, teachers, term students and communication professionals to participate in this important academic meeting, considered the main scientific platform in the country and an opportunity to consolidate collaboration networks aimed at facing the great challenges of national development.

Salud, ambiente y seguridad alimentaria La agenda científicatambién incluirá investigaciones sobre enfermedades cardiovasculares, diabetes, salud mental, genética, medicina molecular, microbioma, fertilidad, nutrición, odontología y nuevas estrategias terapéuticas. En materia ambiental, se debatirán estudios relacionados con el cambio climático, resiliencia costera, gestión del agua, biodiversidad, conservación de ecosistemas, arrecifes coralinos, manglares, especies invasoras y adaptación territorial frente a los desafíos ambientales del Caribe. Igualmente, el Congreso dedicará espacios especiales alanálisis del sargazo, considerado uno de losprincipales retos ambientalesde la región, explorando alternativas para su aprovechamiento en biomoléculas, cosmética, alimentación animal, nutracéuticos y otros productos de alto valor agregado. Formación y cooperación internacional Como parte de su componente formativo, el Congreso ofrecerácursos y talleressobre escritura científica, análisis de datos, protección radiológica, divulgación científica, investigación aplicada yuso responsable de tecnologías emergentes. El encuentro fortalecerá además lacooperación científica nacional e internacionalmediante la participación de investigadores provenientes demás de 20 paísesy la integración de universidades, centros de investigación, organismos de cooperación y representantes del sector productivo.
