Gobierno dominicano facilita el retorno al país de 65 ciudadanos a través de vuelo humanitario procedente de Venezuela
Santo Domingo.- The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Roberto Álvarez, yesterday Monday received the humanitarian flight arranged by President Luis Abinader to facilitate the safe and timely return of the Dominicans affected by the earthquakes that occurred in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
The humanitarian operation, coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Mirex), allowed the return to the country of 65 citizens, including 55 Dominicans, nine Venezuelans with ties to the Dominican Republic and one North American who will return to his country.
The Sky High airline flight departed from the Simón Bolívar International Airport, in Maiquetía, and landed at the José Francisco Peña Gómez International Airport of Las Américas (AILA), in Santo Domingo.
Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez welcomed the citizens who arrived in the country and expressed the Government's commitment to the protection of Dominicans abroad.
“This action responds to the instructions of President Luis Abinader to offer a timely, supportive and effective response to circumstances that put the safety and well-being of fellow citizens at risk.”
The official highlighted the work carried out by an entire team from the Ministry of Defense, led by Lieutenant General Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre, and Mirex, through the Vice Ministry for Consular and Immigration Affairs, directed by Vice Minister Opinio Díaz, to bring aid to Venezuela and assist the Dominicans who are in that country.
The passengers were picked up in Caracas by Vice Minister Díaz, and Mrs. Rita Abinader, who upon arriving in Venezuela were received by the Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil Pinto and the Vice Minister for Latin America, Mauricio Rodríguez.
It is recalled that a special mission, headed by the director of Protection of Nationals Abroad of Mirex, Miguel Reyes Taveras, and made up of technical personnel from the area, is providing assistance to Dominicans who require support in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

Los pasajeros fueron recogidos en Caracas por el viceministro Díaz, y la señoraRita Abinader,quienes al llegar a Venezuela fueron recibidos por el canciller venezolanoYván Gil Pintoy el viceministro para América Latina,Mauricio Rodríguez. Se recuerda que una misión especial, encabezada por el director de Protección a Nacionales en el Exterior del Mirex,Miguel Reyes Taveras, e integrada por un personal técnico del área, está brindandoasistencia a los dominicanosque requieren apoyo en la República Bolivariana de Venezuela.
