Houston, June. 30 (SANA)Brazil booked their place in theFIFA World Cup 2026round of 16 with a dramatic 2-1 victory over Japan, thanks to a stoppage-time winner at NRG Stadium in Houston in the opening Round of 32 fixture.

Japan took the lead in the 29th minute through Kaishu Sano before Brazil equalized in the 56th minute with a goal from Casemiro.

With the match seemingly destined for extra time, Gabriel Martinelli struck the winning goal in the sixth minute of added time (90+6), sending Brazil through to the next round.

Germany will face Paraguay in another Round of 32 match at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, United States today.
